What is "FTAA"?

The Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) is the formal name given to an expansion of NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement) that would include nearly all of the countries in the western hemisphere. This massive NAFTA expansion is currently being negotiated in secret by trade ministers from a total of 34 nations in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. The goal of the FTAA is to impose the failed NAFTA model of increased privatization and deregulation hemisphere-wide. Imposition of these rules would empower corporations to constrain governments from setting standards for public health and safety, to safeguard their workers, and to ensure corporations do not pollute the communities in which they operate. Effectively, these rules would handcuff governments' public interest policy-making and enhance corporate control at the expense of citizens throughout the Americas. FTAA would deepen the negative effects of NAFTA we've seen in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. over the past seven years and expand NAFTA's damage to the other 31 countries involved. The FTAA would intensify NAFTA's "race to the bottom": under FTAA, exploited workers in Mexico could be leveraged against even more desperate workers in Haiti, Guatemala or Brazil by companies seeking tariff-free access back into U.S. markets. A quick look at NAFTA's legacy reveals disastrous consequences: From: Unveiling "NAFTA for the Americas"

We need "Fair Trade & Investment Policies" that will build employment and per capita income for employees, small business operators, and small family farmers worldwide

Heavy investments in labor saving technologies and the corporate exploitation of global slave labor is reducing the per capita earnings that we need to power the demand-side of economies in every community worldwide. Fair trade and invest policies would correct that deficit and reestablish an adequate demand for agricultural and manufactured products that would be produced within each country and community.

The Revolutionary War was fought against the British Empire to regain the Governing Sovereignty for the Colonists

The Revolutionary War was fought over "trade pressures put on the colonists" by the British government under their new 1760 King George III. The "Free Trade Areas of the Americas," that is being hammered out, almost solely by the giant global "Corporate Empire," is also about governing sovereignty. The press in the United States is not covering the drawing up of what amounts to secret agreements that will eliminate your governing sovereignty to establish global economic, trade, and investment policies.

The cry that, "Taxation without representation is tyranny," will always be a valid trigger calling for a people's revolt. This is a clear case of "taxation without representation," and corporate press censorship of vital information needed for effective self governance which is tyranny of the worst order.

We must return all global economic policy making back to the Countries and their People

We need global policies that help empower those families residing in the lower economic half o their countries economy.

The Peoples' of all Countries must have "Inalienable Governing Rights" to some Semblance of Economic Opportunity Parity in all economic policy making agendas

In the mid and long term nearly everyone and almost every economic sector will benefit if they are provided an adequate semblance of economic opportunity parity. Global economic policies must never be a win lose relationship equation, they must always be a win win paradigm so that we can have optimal long term economic sustain ability.

Economic Justice Leads to Peace and Mutual Prosperity - Economic Injustice Breeds Violence Revolutions Wars and Poverty

Some sense of economic opportunity parity is essential toward the economic empowerment of the masses. These initiatives will only be possible when we work together to democratize all global economic policy making institutions and organizations.
