This chart is simply so you can see the performance of this handgun cartridge at these ranges. I know it is a short-range weapon. A rifle is called for at those longer yardage's, but I thought I would show the figures.

Multiplying the bullets flight time by the speed of the target in fps, at a 90-degree angle, gives you the lead in feet. I found the ballistic coefficient of .138 for the 165 gr. Gold Dot HP 40 caliber bullet. MV is 1070; the program wouldn't take but 1068 fps MV. The TMJ jacketed bullet's ballistic coefficient is .135 instead of .138, but I didn't have the muzzle velocity on it with which to run the program.

Don't slow or stop your swing when you shoot! Lead example: Target 90 angle at 10 fps X's .25 bullet flight time = 2.5' foot lead, in that quarter of a second, the target would move 2.5 feet. Maintain the proper lead or miss the target.

All Law Enforcement Officers should have the best possible moving target ranges provided for them by the citizenry that they put their lives on the line to protect! It is the least we can do to help them be extremely effective in emergency life threatening situations! Let's just do it for them!

Every community in the United States ought to consider any and all investments that will provide their Law Enforcement personnel every possible safety and tactical advantage in their enforcement of our laws.

I have renewed respect for Law Enforcement Officers after watching a trio of Law Officer's fire their weapons at a firing range. Never do anything that might appear threatening to a Law Enforcement Officer, --give them the respect and support they deserve.

If you have any questions or have any information you think would be helpful to me or to our Law Enforcement Officers, email me.
